Environmental sustainability
Last updated: March 2026
At mecanografia.info, we aim to use technology that is as environmentally responsible as practical. This page explains how we think about our footprint across hosting, development, and data processing—and points to independent frameworks and provider credentials you can verify yourself.
We do not claim every certification listed below for our own organization unless stated explicitly. Where possible, we link to third-party standards and to our vendors’ public sustainability disclosures.
Hosting and content delivery
The site is deployed on Cloudflare Pages, a static hosting model served through Cloudflare’s global network. Static pages mean no always-on application servers for the typing practice itself—reducing compute and energy compared with heavy server-rendered apps.
- Edge caching brings content closer to users, which can lower repeated round-trips to distant data centers.
- We avoid unnecessary build steps and keep the deployed bundle lean.
Provider reference: Cloudflare — Sustainability. Independent hosting checks: The Green Web Foundation.
Developer laptops and remote work
Our team works primarily on laptops, often remotely. That reduces daily commuting emissions and lets us standardize on efficient, long-lived hardware rather than large desktop fleets.
- We favor devices with strong energy-efficiency profiles and extend their useful life through repairs and OS updates where feasible.
- Power-saving settings, dark mode (also available on the site), and unplugged use when possible help lower idle draw.
- We choose cloud-based tooling to limit local server hardware for development and staging.
Hardware credentials reference: EPEAT (electronics environmental assessment). Energy management reference: ISO 50001 — Energy management systems.
Data processing and green energy
Most typing practice runs in your browser (localStorage for theme and best score only). That limits server-side processing and data transfer for the core product.
- Contact form: Messages are handled via Formspree; review their policies for data location and operations.
- Analytics: We use Microsoft Clarity for aggregated usage insights; see Microsoft’s environmental reporting for their cloud operations.
- Fonts and CDN: Third-party assets (e.g. Google Fonts, Tailwind CDN) add requests; we keep the list minimal and monitor alternatives.
When we select vendors that operate data centers, we prefer providers that publish renewable-energy targets, efficiency metrics, and third-party climate disclosures (see frameworks below).
Climate frameworks and third-party credentials
We align our vendor and operations choices with widely recognized climate and sustainability programs. Use these official links to read criteria, sign-up requirements, and public registries:
- SME Climate Commitment — SME Climate Hub
- The Climate Pledge
- CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project)
- ISO 50001 — Energy management
- B Corp Certification
- Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
- UN Net Zero Coalition
What we are doing next
We will revisit this page as our stack evolves: fewer third-party requests, greener hosting verification, and clearer reporting on vendor climate credentials. Questions or suggestions: hola@mecanografia.info.
